Haunted Houses For Kids In Las Vegas Nevada

Haunted Houses for Kids in Las Vegas Nevada

Halloween can be scary for children, especially if the wrong horror movie or haunted house crosses their path. In Sin City, children are tempted at every turn with all that Vegas has to offer its adults. To give your kids a fun--but not too frightening--Halloween, try one of the kid-friendly haunted houses. Does this Spark an idea?

Fright Dome at Circus Circus

Circus Circus is kid-friendly year round, so it's no surprise that Halloween would be the same. The good news is, Fright Dome is scary and fun for kids (and adults, too). Though many of the Halloween events are aimed at kids older than 12, little kids can have fun outside those restrictions also. There is plenty of room for all, in part, because it's a 5-acre attraction.

Across the 5 acres are five haunted houses with foggy mazes and creatures popping out at every turn. In addition to the houses, there is a haunted 4D movie showing throughout the evening, live shows, games and rides.

Monster Mayhem/Boca Park Funtime Frightfest

Two haunted houses unite to create a spooky evening for adults and children alike. The fright starts in October annually in Boca Park in the dirt lot next to the Cheesecake Factory. Be prepared for two haunted homes, an above-ground graveyard, foggy paths, carnival rides, food and more. Tickets are $14 as of 2009.

Freakling Bros. Horror Shows

The Freakling Bros. Circus of Horrors, Castle Vampyre and The Mortuary will be sure to give your children, and you, a good scare.

The Circus of Horrors encompasses what a normal circus would, only scarier. If you're scared of clowns, do not enter! This is the most popular of the three haunted attractions because of its fright factor.

Castle Vampyre is about illusion and confusion. Guessing whether the terror is real or not is what makes Castle Vampyre unique and especially scary.

Zombies or just dead bodies is what you'll find at The Mortuary, the third exhibit hosted by the Freakling Bros. This attraction scares mostly for the anticipation of the walking dead jumping out. This will definitely scare young children and is best for teens and adults in good health.

Las Vegas Haunts

Two haunted houses are part of the long-time Las Vegas Haunts: Hotel Fear and the Asylum. The Asylum is host to the mentally insane, including Mortimer Feoray, who was last seen there but has disappeared. He used to run a hotel started by his grandfather (Hotel Fear) called Hotel Feoray before he had a breakdown, killed guests and workers in the hotel and was deemed insane. The ghosts will roam both locations.

The story of both locations are intertwined, which helps with the psychological motivations of a good scare by creating an environment with characteristics of true reality. This is not just a "boo" scare as with many traditional haunted houses, which may make it less scary for children who cannot understand the story but may make it scarier for adults.

Tips and Warnings

While kids are welcome to try either of the haunts listed above, parents know their children best. Some spooky thrills scare more than others.

Once you've decided on a good fright fest for you and your young ones, look for coupons. Haunts above range from $10-$35 per person as of 2009.

Once you've picked a haunt and found a deal, get there early. Haunted houses usually have a limited number of guests allowed in at one time, so the lines can get long. Try to get to a haunted house early, especially with young children in tow.
