Do It Yourself Pool Deck Repair

Maintain the appearance of your pool by staying on top of repairs.

To achieve durability and traction, pool decks are typically made of concrete with a textured surface. Pool decks, however, are not impervious to damage, and cracks and chips can sometimes occur in the concrete. Repair this damage with a pool deck patch mixture as soon as possible, before the problem worsens. Pool deck patches come in kits with a pigmented powder and a liquid bonding agent that you must mix together. Choose from a variety of colors to match the color of your deck. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Empty the container of patching powder and the bottle of liquid bonding agent into a plastic bucket.

2. Mix the powder and bonding agent with a spatula and gradually add water until you achieve a thick, goopy consistency.

3. Repair cracks by spreading the patching material into and over the cracks with your hand. Make sure you force the patch into the crack.

4. Clean excess patching from the surface using a damp sponge so only the filled crack remains. Keep the sponge clean to prevent residue from building up on the surface.

5. Fill holes with the patching material using a putty knife or trowel. If necessary, use a hammer and chisel to remove any loose or crumbling bits before adding the patch. Spread patching material into and over the hole like frosting.

6. Create pocks in the patch with your finger that mimic the texture of the pool deck.

7. Dip a trowel in water and skate it over the surface to level the patched area. Use the wet sponge to clean any excess.
