Get Rid Of Your Mobile Home

Mobile homes are manufactured homes that are less expensive than regular houses and offer the ability to transport them to different lots when desired. Many times mobile homes exist in communities, where the owners pay a lot fee monthly to live on the premises. Mobile homes also depreciate very quickly and are sometimes difficult to get rid of. There are ways, however, to get rid of a mobile home.

Instructions

1. Give it to charity. If giving away the mobile home, consider donating it to charity. Come tax time, it's a write-off when donated. It can provide a homeless family with somewhere to live.

2. Call the fire department. Fire departments have to train new firefighters and continually retrain current firefighters. The fire department rarely gets a chance to train its members in a usable home, which can be extremely helpful when encountering real-life fires. The opportunity to use a mobile home to do training exercises would thrill most fire departments.

3. Locate metal scrappers. These individuals and companies advertise in the classifieds and phone book looking for scrap metal. Older mobile homes consist of a large amount of metal, which they take apart and sell. They usually haul the metal themselves, saving you the cost of moving the trailer.

4. Sell it. To sell a mobile home, it's imperative to fix current problems. Patch holes, fix plumbing issues, repair leaks and basically make it attractive to prospective buyers. Don't go overboard, because remodels don't pay off. At the most, upgrade appliances to a current model if they are old or nonfunctional.

List the home in the classifieds. Online sites such as eBay and Craigslist also offer free listing services that have large amounts of traffic. This large amount of user traffic leads to a faster sale or free haul-off, because there are more people seeing the advertisement.
