Removing drawers from the Sears Quiet Glide tool chest makes the unit lighter to carry when you're moving the tool chest. There are also times when a tool accidentally gets stuck behind a drawer, requiring removal of the drawer to access the tool. The drawer operates using a sliding track inside the door cabinet with a stationary glide on each side of the drawer. Removing drawers on a Sears Quiet Glide tool chest requires unlocking the drawer glide from the cabinet slide. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Open the top drawer of the Sears Quiet Glide tool chest and empty the contents from the drawer. Close the drawer once it is empty, and open the next drawer down. Continue emptying the drawers one by one.
2. Extend the top drawer fully, and push it back 1/4 inch. Look for the stop on each drawer slide on the side of the drawer. The stop is a metal tab that protrudes through the slot on the slide coming from the cabinet.
3. Press the tab on one side with a flat-head screwdriver until it is against the side of the drawer. Grab the drawer with your thumb at the front of the cabinet slide. Push the cabinet slide toward the cabinet slightly with your thumb. The slide only needs to move back enough to cover the stop.
4. Repeat the process for the opposite side of the drawer. Pull the drawer away from the tool chest. Repeat the process for each drawer you are removing.
