Threading your New Home sewing machine properly will set you up for sewing success.
The New Home XR-VII Electronic 990 sewing machine is made by the Janome Sewing Machine Company of Japan. Janome sewing machines are known for their reliability and durability. In 1960, Janome acquired the New Home Sewing Machine Company. The New Home XR-VII Electronic 990 sewing machine was manufactured in Japan during the 1960s and 1970s and is no longer manufactured. Because of the machine's reliability, however, many of these machines are still being used today. It's a higher-end machine, and retailed for $900 in 1979.
Instructions
1. Use the holes in the top of the bobbin for holding the thread while it winds.
Remove the bobbin from its casing on the front of the sewing machine. Place your thread on its spool on top of the machine and thread it around the catches on the left side of the top of the machine. Pull the thread through one of the holes on top of the bobbin and place the bobbin on its spool next to the thread spool. Loosen the flywheel on the right side of the machine.
2. Hold the tail of the thread when you step on the foot pedal so the thread doesn't fly out of the empty bobbin. After the thread is securely winding on the bobbin, you can let go of the tail. Continue to fill the bobbin until it is completely full. Cut the thread, and replace the bobbin back in its casing on the front of the machine.
3. Using good quality thread will reduce frustration.
Place your spool of thread on its spindle so that the thread will pull to the left on the back side of the spool. Pull the thread through the catch on the top of the machine and the pull it down on the right side of the tension assembly. There is a slot at the bottom of the tension assembly for the thread to catch in before it goes up to the hook at the top of the tension assembly.
4. Pull the thread down to the needle. There is a small hook that stands out from the front of the needle assembly. Make sure the thread runs behind the hook. Moisten the end of the thread and then poke it through the needle from front to back.
5. Lower the needle by turning the flywheel and raise the needle up again. The top thread will catch the bobbin thread and pull it up from underneath the feed dogs. Pull both threads toward the back of the machine to keep them out of the way while you sew.
