1. Learn some of the basics of a certain game you might play. If you like the thought of poker or blackjack, then learn the rules. You can find many websites online that will show you play. If you don't have Internet then you can find books about gambling rules in bookstores and possibly even the library. Research your games, it might save you money in the long run.
2. Take only the amount of money you wish to play with. Gambling can become an addiction and people lose their houses, salaries and cars over it everyday. Don't become a gambling statistic and take only what you need to play with your friends. You will thank yourself for it later.
3. Know your casinos. Some of the smaller casinos have big wins too. Do not be fooled by the glitz and glamour. The fancy resort casinos may look rich and most people tend to believe they will have huge pay off because of this. Don't judge a book by its cover.
4. Don't drink and gamble. People may tend to go a little crazy with their money when they have had a few drinks. Sure it's ok to enjoy a few drinks, but to get sloshed on tequila shots is another story. You don't want to wake up outside a casino with only a dollar to your name. Monitor yourself and the situation. It is your money after all.
5. Know when to quit. If you win big and you keep going, you will lose your winnings and the money you came with. Every casino owner will tell you that if you stay long enough, you cannot win. The odds will catch up to you.
