Trade Winds RV Resort is a 55-and-older retirement community and RV resort in Mission. The resort is located minutes from the Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley. The region enjoys average temperatures of 61 degrees Fahrenheit in winter and 84 degrees in summer. All sites have full hookups, 30- or 50-amp electric service and concrete patios. Some oversized sites can accommodate large RVs. Park amenities include restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, mail room, office, heated pool, spa, pool hall, weekly farmer’s market and activities such as shuffleboard and campfire social hours. Rates in 2010 start at $29 per day, including electricity. The resort offers special rates for extended stays, which include garbage removal, water and sewer service, wireless Internet service and long-distance telephone calls. A maximum of two small- to medium-sized cats or dogs are permitted on each site.
