For quick recovery, however, it's critical to get enough sufficient nutritious food and care for your body in a way that helps repair the damaged digestive tract and rebuild muscle mass lost before and during treatment. With the right foods, eating habits and exercise routine, it is possible to gain weight after esophageal cancer.

1. Talk with your doctor about which foods are recommended after esophageal cancer and which are restricted. Typically, foods that are difficult to swallow or digest and foods that may cause acid reflux should be avoided. This may include fried, sugary and spicy foods, as well as soda and processed meats.
