Large Format Photography

Also, everything is bigger in Texas, so well shot and printed photos which are in a large format are a great way to present attractive interior decor while also representing that Texas pride. These photos can be of the Texas State Flag, swimming holes in the hill country, or the booming downtown skyline of the city of Austin itself.

Ranch Decor

Despite being in the hill country and having a very liberal attitude, Austin is still surrounded by the old Texas spirit of ranch lands, cattle and cowboys. Decorating the inside of an Austin home with ranch style decor, ranging from animal skulls, ranch tools and watercolor paintings of cowboys is another popular way to decorate the home. This style works best on homes which feel like a classic ranch house, with high ceilings and constructed out of wood and stone materials. While the decor in this interior decorating theme is supposed to represent the Old West, having a modern flare to the furniture or the wall art can revive this classic style of Texas interior decorating.

Local Art

Austin has also always been known as an arts haven, not only in the State of Texas but in the United States. There is incredible music, but also local painters, sculptors, photographers and filmmakers who live in the city and contribute to the style which is all Austin's own. Local art should be incorporated into as many different aspects of the interior decor as possible. Make lamps out of old pieces of iron from railroad ties used around the city. Hang musical instruments, painted cowboy hats and pictures of musicians on the wall, like Willie Nelson. Find unique paintings of bluebonnets, longhorns and mockingbirds, or drawings which are a new take on an old Austin theme.
