Repair Broken Glass Items

Broken glass items can be repaired with specialty epoxy glue.

As heartbreaking as it is to have a treasured piece of glass break, know that you have the potential to fix the piece yourself. Glass is susceptible to breakage if dropped onto a hard surface or bumped into, but as long as your item is not shattered into a bunch of little pieces, you have the ability to join the dislocated parts together to make them whole again. Repair your broken glass items using a powerful adhesive designed for glass and a few household supplies. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands from the sharp edges of the broken glass and the epoxy glue.

2. Wash the damaged glass pieces in warm, soapy water making sure to remove any debris. Allow the glass to dry. Cleansing the glass item ensures that the adhesive sets properly.

3. Open the epoxy glue bottle and gently squeeze a little bit onto a paper plate. The amount of epoxy you release needs to be enough to cover just one side of the damaged piece.

4. Mix the two parts of the epoxy thoroughly with a toothpick. Dip the toothpick into the glue and then spread it over one side of the broken portion. Make sure to completely cover the area.

5. Join the broken pieces and press them together gently. Be sure to hold them as long as your epoxy container specifies.

6. Set the glass aside to allow the glue to dry. Epoxy generally takes 24 hours to cure, but you should check the glue container to verify how long your brand takes.
