Retar A Mobile Home Roof

Mobile homes generally have two types of roofs: metal or rubber. These two options are popular for mobile homes with flat roofs. Rubber roofing is popular for flat roofs not only on mobile homes but also on businesses or houses. Rubber roofing is easy to install and rolls on quickly. Over time, the tar covering the roofing will begin to wear down and chip. Replacing the roof is not necessary in this instance. The easiest and most convenient thing to do is to retar the roof to cover up any cracks or peeling. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Climb a ladder to the roof of the mobile home and inspect the roof to find cracks and peeling. Brush up all the loose particles and debris with a broom and pan and remove them from the surface of the roof.

2. Peel off any pieces of roofing that are loose and hanging free. Cut the longer pieces with scissors if necessary to remove them. Measure the size of the roof to determine how much roof coating will be necessary. Multiply the length by the width to determine the square footage and the number of 5-gallon buckets that will be used.

3. Pour the rubber roof coating in the corner of the roof farthest from the ladder and begin spreading it out with a large paint roller and an extension pole.

4. Work from one corner of the roof to the other side and then back toward the ladder, making sure not to step in the roof tar. Spread it out evenly with the roller and continue around the roof until the entire area has been covered.

5. Inspect the roof. Allow the coating a few hours to dry before checking the roof to make sure it has been covered properly. Verify that there are no gaps or seams and check to make sure the coverage is equal throughout.
