Fix a Broken LCD TV Screen
The LCD screen on your flat-screen television can become cracked or damaged and need to be replaced. There can also be connection problems from a faulty inverter board, which can cause damage to your TV. You can fix these problems on your own. The process involves opening up the TV, but that can be done in a matter of minutes.
Instructions
1. Turn off your TV and unplug it from the power outlet. Place it facedown on a sturdy work surface, such as a table or desk.
2. Remove all screws from the back of the TV and remove the back panel of the television. The motherboard will now be visible in the center of the TV, behind the screen. The rectangular inverter board will be visible mounted to the side of the motherboard.
3. Remove all screws securing the metal inverter cover and remove the cover to expose the actual inverter board. There will be many cables connected to ports on the top of the board. These cables transfer power to the LCD screen.
4. Check each connection on top of the inverter board, making sure they are secure. If they aren't, unplug them and plug them back in, making sure they are secure. If this doesn't fix the screen, the inverter is most likely faulty and needs to be replaced. Proceed to step 5.
5. Unplug all cables from the ports on the top of the inverter and remove all screws from the board itself.
6. Remove the board from the TV and set it aside.
7. Fit a new board (available from your TV service center) in the old one's place and replace the screws and cables. Replace the inverter housing and rear panel of the TV.
