Pellet Stoves
A pellet stove is an efficient way to heat a mobile home. The stoves work just like a wood stove and will be vented through a chimney stove pipe. That can be installed into a mobile home in a number of different configurations. The first is vertically straight up from the stove, the second is horizontally from the top of the stove. A fan will draw the exhaust from the stove and draw in air to keep the stove running high.
Placement
The placement of the stove is important to gain the most efficiency from it. For the best installation, center the stove in a room where you want the most heat. Install it centrally in the mobile home to allow the heat to disperse. If you have a chimney in place, install the stove near this to make the ventilation simpler. The stove itself will be delivered by your stove company and place in the mobile home. If you plan to deliver it yourself, you will need two or three people to move it, along with a dolly to move the stove. You can install the stove on the floor, or on a brick surface.
Installing the Pipe Vent
The most important and complicated part of installing a wood stove is the venting. Use double walled steel pipe to create a chimney or vent for the stove. First cut a hole in the wall or ceiling and install the piping into this hole. On the outside of the wall install a piece of metal exhaust flashing that fastens to the wall. The pipe is installed right through the wall and routed down to the unit. A vent cover is installed on the end of the pipe outside the unit to prevent dirt from getting into the chimney.
Attach the Piping to the Stove
Attach the pipe to the stove inside the home. The stove has a receptor for the pipe. Slide the pipe into round metal receptor and secure it with the hardware. Seal the edge of the pipe using heavy duty, heat resistant sealant. Then seal any cracks or leaks in the wall around the pipe using insulation.
