Amano is a well-known name in employee time clock manufacture. The company, in business since 1896, has focused on time clock technology for most of its existence. Needless to say, a time clock needs to be precise and accurate; a malfunction can results in payroll discrepancies that can cost a company a great deal of money. It's important to inspect your Amano time clock regularly to ensure proper function. Repair the clock as soon as you notice a problem to prevent the glitch from getting worse and causing you unnecessary losses. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Unplug the time clock from the wall outlet. Trying to repair the clock while it is still operating could cause further damage and potentially result in injury.
2. Open the clock by sliding an Amano clock key into the slot on the top and turning it. This pops the main casing off to give you access to the components inside.
3. Pull out any paper jams in the clock to free up the clock components. Work slowly, pulling out the paper carefully to prevent clock damage. You may need scissors to cut the jam out of the clock. Slide the carriage back and forth afterward to verify it moves smoothly again.
4. Apply silicone grease to the flat bar located on the gear tooth mechanism. This helps the clock parts move smoothly, reducing the possibility of jams. And it helps repair printer errors caused by too much friction in the clock. Avoid using oil-based lubricants such as WD-40, because the oil damages the parts over time.
5. Inspect the ribbon cables to ensure they aren't torn or loose. Torn ribbons need replacement while loose ribbons need tightening.
6. Replace the casing and plug the clock back in. Press and hold the reset button for two seconds and resume using the clock to test it.
7. Contact Amano at 800-580-8463 if you still have problems with the clock to get further advice. It's possible your clock may still be covered by a warranty.
