3. Purchase the materials at a home improvement center. Drywall and paneling both come in 4x8 pieces so measure the room and buy the amount of pieces. For example, if your room is 12x20 you would need sixteen pieces of drywall or paneling.
4. Remove the old drywall or paneling. Do not worry if you break it during removal since you will throw it away. You should see the insulation in the walls now.
5. Hang the new drywall or paneling by attaching each piece to the wall studs with paneling or drywall nails. Secure by placing the nails 24 inches apart vertically. Place trim on the walls where the pieces meet to hide the intersection. Attach trim to drywall or paneling with trimming nails.
6. Install the new appliances, which means taking out the old appliance, and placing the new appliance in its place and plugging it in.
7. Tear out the old carpeting or tile and lay the new carpet or rolled goods. Tack the carpet down with carpet tacks. Rolled goods roll out in kitchen, bathroom or any room you want to tile. Staple the rolled goods down and apply adhesive around the outside edges and seams.
