Mobile home windows are set in metal frames.
Mobile home windows are set in lightweight metal frames that allow for easy removal and replacement of the glass. Properly measuring mobile home windows requires a bit of construction and assembly knowledge. Mobile home windows are built by forming a rectangle out of four slotted pieces of metal that are held together by screws. The slot in these pieces of metal holds the glass firmly in place once the window is assembled. This slot must be accounted for when measuring the window for replacement glass. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Stretch out and hold your tape measure across the bottom of the window. Place the outside of the pull blade of your tape measure against the inside edge of the metal frame of the window. Observe the measurement at the opposite inside edge of the metal frame. Record this measurement.
2. Hold your tape measure along the inside edge of one side of the metal frame of the window to obtain the vertical measurement. Record this measurement.
3. Add 1/2 inch to each of your measurements to determine the size of the replacement glass needed. Remember this extra 1/2 inch when purchasing your replacement glass as it fills the 1/4-inch groove that runs along the inner part of the frame.
