Nevada's energy assistance programs range from fuel assistance to weatherization.
Heating and cooling a home can be expensive and paying the monthly bill for energy can be especially difficult for some low-income families. Energy providers, government agencies and private charities are among the entities which offer programs to help people pay their energy bills. Other energy assistance may come in the form of making homes more energy efficient. By adding insulation and weatherization a home's energy bills can be reduced. There are several energy assistance programs in Nevada.
NV Energy Assistance Program
The NV Energy Assistance Program is actually two programs in one. The first provides assistance in paying energy bills to eligible households once each year. The second part of the program is for weatherization. Eligible households will be equipped with insulation, weather stripping and minor house repairs to make the home more energy efficient and reduce energy costs. Both programs are open to low-income households and based on monthly income for all people living in the home. As of 2010, a single-person household can not exceed more than $1,354 in monthly income. Total monthly income can increase by up to $468 for each additional person living in the home.

Eligible customers cannot receive SAFE funds if they have already received assistance from another state or federal low-income energy assistance program.
