Make Money In Computer Repair

Make Money in Computer Repair

If you are a skilled computer user with a strong background in troubleshooting, you may want to turn your love of technology into a thriving business. As long as there are computers, there will be a need for computer support people, and if you have the skills that are needed you may be able to make a very good living helping people solve their PC problems.

Instructions

1. Do a thorough self-assessment of your computer skills and think about how you can transform those skills into a business plan. If you are always solving computer problems for your friends and family members you may want to help those in your community fix their computers, get rid of viruses and upgrade their PCs. If you love to build your own systems you may want to create a business where you take in unwanted computer equipment and sell the finished systems.

2. Research your local market to determine where the greatest needs are. If there are a lot of small businesses in your town, those businesses will most likely not have a dedicated IT staff. You can approach the owners of those businesses and offer to act as their computer help desk. You can access those computers remotely by using a program such as Go to My PC, or you can perform the services needed in person.

3. Place an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper. Many local newspapers include a special section for computers and computer equipment. You can use that computer section to advertise your services to your local area.

4. Order business cards and pass them out wherever you go, especially to local business owners. Networking is as important for business owners as it is for job seekers, and you never know who in your circle of friends and colleagues may need help with a computer.

5. Keep your skills up to date. The world of technology changes rapidly, so it is critical for you to keep your skills up to date. There are a number of low cost ways to get access to the latest hardware and software, including signing up as a beta tester every time a new version of Windows comes out. You can also sign up to be a product tester for a number of computer hardware and peripheral manufacturers.
