Replace A Tub Faucet In A Mobile Home

Replace a Tub Faucet in a Mobile Home

Mobile home tub faucets are secured to the wall from the back of the faucet. To replace a tub faucet in a mobile home you will need to gain access to the wall behind the tub where the faucet is installed. Depending on the model home manufacturer, there may or be an access panel behind the tub wall. This makes replacing the faucet effortless. If there is no access panel you will have to cut an opening in the wall through the drywall, and then install an easy access panel of your own for any future repairs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Locate the main shut off valve for the water supply to the mobile home and shut off the water. Open the hot and cold faucets to clear the water lines of water before removing the faucet.

2. Remove the access panel in the wall behind the faucet using a drill to remove the screws securing it. If the panel has been painted, use a utility knife around the outer edge of the panel to cut through the layers of paint. If the panel is glued in place use a pry bar to gently remove the panel. If there is no access panel, measure the height of the faucet from the floor and mark the wall at that level. Use a utility knife to cut through the wall. If you are installing an easy access panel (recommended) cut the opening in the wall to the size of the panel.

3. Cover the floor below the water lines with plastic and a towel. Unscrew the water lines by turning the plastic nuts counterclockwise using your hand. The water lines should be hand tight but if you need to use a wrench use caution so you won't damage the plastic fittings. Remove the water lines.

4. Unscrew the plastic mounting nuts on the plastic connectors counterclockwise by hand. Pull the faucet from the tub side of the wall to remove it.

5. Insert the new faucet through the wall from the tub side. Screw the mounting nuts on the plastic connectors turning clockwise to hand tight. Attach each water line by placing the line nut on the plastic connector and turning the nut clockwise to hand tight.
