Uninstall Mobile Home Windows

Time to replace your mobile home windows?

Mobile home windows can be uninstalled with a few basic hand tools. Caulking and metal trim will need to be removed along with the window frame. Square-recess driver bits will be needed to remove the square drive mobile home screws. Uninstalling old windows will allow new replacement windows to improve the appearance of a mobile home community. Mobile home sale value and comfort will also increase.

Instructions

1. Remove screws from window trim or shutters that are covering the window flange around the outside edge of the window. Use putty scraper or pry bar to loosen trim and shutters if necessary after screws are removed. Go slowly and remove without bending and they can be reused if necessary.

2. Remove screws from window flange on all four sides of the window. Use pry bar and hammer to lift the window edges gradually until the window is pulled out of the opening. Extracting the window a little at a time, working your way around the edge, will prevent the window panes from breaking. Too much force in one spot could break the glass.

3. Clean the window caulking and putty from the opening. Remove any screws, nails, siding staples or metal bracing or siding that protrudes into the opening and interferes with the edges of the window opening.
