Wood stoves are safe to use in mobile homes when installed and used correctly. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development allows you to install a wood stove in your mobile home. Wood stoves made for use in mobile homes are constructed out of the same materials as regular wood stoves: cast iron, bricks and heat-resistant glass, if the stove has a window. The stoves also come equipped with dampers to control the amount of heat produced and blowers to spread the heat throughout the space.
HUD Regulations
HUD indicates that you must use a pipe specially constructed from heat-resistant materials to connect the wood stove to the chimney and that the wood stove must be bolted to the floor in a mobile home. Additionally, HUD requires mobile home-approved wood stoves to be properly vented to the outside.

Never install a mobile home wood stove in a bedroom or in a narrow hallway. Purchase only regulation accessories designed for mobile home wood stoves.
