Repair My Rv Refrigerator

A refrigerator isone of the many amenities that come with owning an RV. Having a refrigerator replaces the inconvenience of a cooler with ice. These refrigerators are low maintenance because they are absorption style. If your refrigerator malfunctions there are a number of ways you can fix it without consulting a professional.

Instructions

1. Vacuum up any soot and dust that has fallen below the burner. This could cause the refrigerator not to light.

2. Check the temperature on the unit. If the refrigerator doesn't cool at all, this could be a bad cooling unit that must be replaced.

3. Check if your RV is level. If you run a refrigerator when it is not level, it could cause the cooling unit to become blocked. A blockage makes it impossible for the solvent to flow up the coils properly, causing them to settle and crystalize. If the problem is caught soon enough, you can tip the unit over. This will break up the crystals and get them to flow properly again.

4. Look for a leak. If the boiler is warm and the absorber is hot, this means there is a leak. Another way of telling if there is a leak is the smell of ammonia. If this occurs you can disassemble the unit and find the leak in the coils or piping. Replace the part that is broken. However, you may have to replace the entire unit.

5. Check to see that the unit is plugged in properly. At times bumping around on the open road can cause it to become unplugged.
