The RCA REB 1100 Gemstar eBook reader supports up to 72 megabytes of memory and is equipped with a rechargeable battery, stylus, power adapter, phone cord and USB cable. Released in the dial-up era, the RCA eBook reader has a built-in 33.6 Kbps modem for access to Internet resources by dial-up account. The REB 1100 had several firmware updates after its release. The product's firmware may be updated through USB connection to a computer.
Instructions
1. Connect the REB 1100 to a computer with the USB cable. Run the driver set-up program included on the accompanying compact disc, if you haven't already.
2. Click the "PC Link" icon on the eBook reader's screen using the stylus.
3. Click "Check Update." The driver will attempt to communicate with the RCA update server using the computer's Internet connection. The device will inform you if an update is available.
4. Click "Perform Update" if the device informs you an update is available. The firmware update may take up to 30 minutes. Don't disconnect the device until the update is complete.
