Control And Prevent Snakes In Houston Texas

Rattlesnakes are the most common deadly snakes in Texas.

There are 15 varieties of venomous snakes in Texas, most of them rattlesnakes. The good news is that non-venomous snakes are much more common. If you start noticing snakes around your Houston home, you will probably want to remove the existing snakes and prevent new snakes from moving in. Prevention can be done by the homeowner or hired out, but removal should be done by a professional. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Control

1. Do not touch the snake. Leave it alone, but try to get a look at it from a distance. Most of the venomous snakes in the Houston area are the rattler variety, so take a look at the snake to see if it has a large distinctive rattle at the end of its tail, or makes a rattling noise. Take a picture if you can, from a safe distance.

2. Call a local snake control company. Masters Wildlife Control specializes in snake removal and can be called at 940-380-0365. Houston Animal Control also specializes in this and can be reached at 832-585-4865.

3. Describe the snake to the animal control agent. If they deem that the snake is a danger, they will send someone out to remove it; if not, they may recommend that you simply wait until it has slithered away.

Prevention

4. Clean up your back yard. The snakes are attracted to areas that allow them to cover and forage. Remove things such as piles of wood or yard waste. Cut the grass and remove excess weeds.

5. Set mousetraps around the property. Mice are food for the snakes, and with less food around, they will be less likely to return to your property.

6. Set one or more snake traps around the house. These can be ordered online from FloridaWildlifeControl.com. Or you can make your order directly over the phone by calling 360-305-7522. Traps are also available from CahabaSnakeTrapSales.com. When setting the trap, follow the instructions.

7. Hire a professional to set up a snake prevention system in your home. Masters Wildlife Control and Houston Animal Control both offer these services.
