File A Complaint With The Board For Licensing Contractors In The State Of Texas

Make a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.


When you have problems with licensed contractors in Texas, the first thing is to confront them in hopes to have it resolved. However, depending on the nature of the issue, confrontation may not work. You then may think of taking legal action. But before doing so, an alternative to consider is to file a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.


Instructions


1. Make the complaint over the phone.


Talk to a representative of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation by calling its toll-free number at 800-803-9202. The alternate number is 512-463-6599.


2. Mail your complaint.


Mail your written complaint to: Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, P.O. Box 12157, Austin, Texas 78711.


3. File your complaint online.


Visit the homepage of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (see Resources). Click on "About TDRL." Toward the bottom of the About page, click on the link that says "File Complaints Online." On the Online Complaint Process page, select the type of contractor and then click "Go." On the Complaint Form page, make sure you read the Notice section before filling out the form. Complete the form and then click Submit. If you have any support documentation, fax it to 512-539-5698. Or, you can mail the paperwork to the mailing address appearing in Step 2.
