Convert Ebooks To Kindle With Calibre

The Kindle ebook reader uses a specific file format for all electronic books stored on the device. Files not in this format cannot be read by a Kindle. That can make things difficult when you have ebooks downloaded from the Web that come in a different format. Thankfully, Calibre can come to the rescue. Calibre is a free ebook converter that takes ebooks in one format and converts them to the Kindle format, leaving you free to read your favorite classics with ease on your Kindle device.

Instructions

1. Open Calibre.

2. Click "Amazon" in the Manufacturer column. Click on your type of Kindle in the Devices column. Click "Next." Click "Finish" to configure Calibre to convert ebooks to the Kindle format.

3. Click "Add Books" in the Calibre main screen that appears.

4. Double-click on the ebook file you want to convert from its location on your hard drive. The ebook file is added to the Calibre main window.

5. Click on the arrow next to the "Edit Meta Information" button at the top of the screen. Click "Download Metadata and Covers" to have Calibre download additional information and pictures that will be included in your ebook file.

6. Connect your Kindle to your computer. Calibre automatically detects the device.

7. Click on the ebook you want to convert to highlight it. Click "Send to Device."

8. Click "Yes" when asked if you would like to auto-convert the file. Calibre converts your ebook to the Kindle format and sends it to your Kindle.
