Restore An Emachine Computer Without The Cd

Restoring your eMachine can remove viruses and repair your Windows operating system.

Use the eMachine Recovery Management program to either restore your eMachine to its original factory settings, or to restore and repair the Windows operating system without losing your personal data and programs. Restoring your eMachine to its original factory settings is a good way to remove viruses that may be buried deep in your computer. Restoring and repairing your Windows operating system is a good way to fix Windows if it is becoming unstable.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button in the lower, left corner of your Windows XP or Windows Vista home screen, or click the "Start" icon in the lower, left corner of your Windows 7 home screen.

2. Click "All Programs." If you are using Windows XP, a list of programs will appear to the right of "All Programs," and if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, a list of programs will appear directly above the Start button or icon.

3. Search the list until you find the "eMachines" folder, then click the folder.

4. Click "eMachines Recovery Management." The eMachines Recovery Management program will open up on your screen.

5. Click "Restore" on the left side of the eMachines Recovery Management program window. Three options will appear on the right side of your screen: "Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults," "Restore Operating System and Retain User Data" and "Reinstall Drivers or Applications."

6. Click "Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults" if you want to erase all of your personal data and programs and restore the eMachines computer to its settings the day it was removed from the box, or click "Restore Operating System and Retain User Data" if you want to keep your personal data and any programs that you've installed and just repair the Windows operating system.

7. Click "Next" to confirm your selection and reboot your computer to initiate the restoration process. The computer will restart again after it is finished restoring and you can begin setting up your Windows settings.
