Graham-Martin Foundation Grants


The Graham-Martin Foundation provides grants to homeowner associations, nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations and school associations to create educational community gardens, rain water gardens and engage in conservation and sustainable restoration activities. The goal of the organization is to promote the restoration and preservation of ecosystems and support environmental-related education activities. Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation-Community Improvement Projects


The City of Milwaukee, Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation (NIDC) Community Improvement Projects provide matching grants of up to $3,000 to homeowners, who, as part of a community development organization, want to implement sustainable projects to improve the quality of life in their community. Applications must include an overview of benefits to the neighborhood and project goals, budget, project time line and source of leveraged funds. Grant recipients must submit a project report and project photos to the city of Milwaukee upon completion of the project.


USDA: Rural Development Housing Program-Wisconsin


The United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Housing Program provides grant funding to rural households in the state of Wisconsin. The Repair Loans and Grant program provides funding for low-income homeowners to make repairs, install essential systems and fix health and safety hazards. To quality for the grant, applicants must not have the means to repay a loan, and must live in a rural community with a population of less than 20,000; be at least 62 years of age, and meet income eligibility thresholds. The maximum amount of grant funding is $7,500, as of January 2011.


Wisconsin Fund Program


Homeowners and small business owners are eligible to apply for the Wisconsin Fund Program. The program provides assistance to replace private on-site systems for the treatment of waste water that is failing with a newer system. Applications are available from local code enforcement, zoning or sanitation offices. Eligibility is based on confirmation of a failing system by a municipal employee, municipal participation in the program, date of construction of the waste water treatment system and income eligibility guidelines. Maximum grant amounts vary depending on the scope of the replacement project and municipal allocations.
