Remove Mold From A Wood Deck

Remove mold from your wood deck with bleach.

Mold develops on wooden decks when the deck is subjected to long periods of moisture. The wood absorbs the moisture, which allows mildew and mold spores to begin growing. Once the growth begins, it quickly multiplies, covering a large area of your deck in a very short period of time. To remove the mold from your deck, you need to make a cleaning solution that will kill the mold without causing damage to the wood. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Run the garden hose over the deck to wash off any loose mold.

2. Fill a cleaning bucket with 1 gallon hot water and 1 cup oxygen bleach. The oxygen bleach uses natural bleaching agents, making it safer than chemical-based chlorinated bleach.

3. Pour the bleach solution onto the affected area of the wood deck. Saturate the entire area.

4. Dip a scrub brush into the bucket of solution, and scrub the brush over the mold.

5. Rinse the area with the garden hose. Repeat the scrubbing process until all mold is removed.
