Throw A Fun Dinner Party

Your dinner guests will be sitting close to each other, so make sure they get along.

Throwing a fun dinner party does not have to cost a great deal of money. There are plenty of meal options you can choose that won't cost a lot or take a long time to make. What throwing a fun dinner party does require is careful planning. Plan well, and everything will fall into place. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Create your invitation list. Make sure you have a mix of people who all get along. It's OK to invite people who don't know each other, as long as you are sure there won't be any conflicting personalities. This will prevent arguments and awkward moments for the rest of the guests.

Once the invitation list is set, contact each guest directly or send invitations through the mail. Either way, follow up with a phone call to each guest to get an accurate count.

2. When planning your menu, take special dietary needs into consideration.

Determine your menu. Take into consideration any dietary needs of guests who may be vegetarians or allergic to some foods. If you plan to use a caterer or hire a bartender, the Purple Tail party-planning website suggests making those arrangements three to four weeks before the dinner party.

3. Make sure your guests have comfortable seating.

Create at atmosphere that will promote a fun time. This may include having music or pictures out for the guests to look at. Have comfortable seating for everyone. You don't want to be hunting for folding chairs while your guests are standing around awkwardly.

4. Decide on the entertainment or activity for the evening. The Entertainment Experts website suggests a murder mystery. Designate one guest as the murder victim and another as the killer. The rest of the guests will follow the clues to figure out what happened.

Consider playing a game. Pictionary, Charades, Scattergories and Catch Phrase are possibilities.

If the crowd you are inviting isn't into playing games, plan live entertainment. This could be a musician, a street magician or a hypnotist.

5. Give your guests something to take home.

Send each guest away with a parting gift. The gift can be personalized, perhaps an engraved wine glass, or it can be general, such as a small gift basket. It should be something that will remind your guests of the great evening they shared with you. Having an accurate count of guests will ensure that you have enough gifts. Make sure the gift is ideal for both men and women, or have separate gifts for each.
