Troubleshoot A Kenmore Dishwasher With A Latch That Won'T Open

If your Kenmore dishwasher latch won't open, try resetting your dishwasher.

Kenmore dishwashers are sold exclusively by Sears, and include a minimum one-year warranty with service from a Kenmore technician. However, even if your dishwasher is still under warranty, service calls can take up to two weeks to schedule, so if your dishwasher latch won't open, you won't want to wait that long to resolve the issue. Instead, try troubleshooting the problem yourself by resetting your dishwater. That way you can have your dishwasher up and running immediately, and avoid a costly service charge if your dishwasher is no longer covered by Kenmore's service plan. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Press and hold the "No Heat Dry" or "Air Dry" button (depending which model Kenmore dishwasher you have) for four seconds to manually unlock your Kenmore dishwasher.

2. Disconnect your dishwasher from the power source for one minute. Turn off your circuit breaker or take out the appropriate fuse from your fuse box for one minute instead of attempting to unplug your dishwasher from its wiring harness.

3. Power your dishwasher on by turning your circuit breaker back on or replacing the fuse in your fuse box.
