Troubleshoot A Samsung Dryer

Troubleshoot your Samsung dryer to avoid a visit to the laundromat.

If you own a Samsung dryer, it is important to know properly operate it and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Power issues, drying problems, noisy dryers and wrinkled or tangled clothes are some common issues that can be easily fixed.

Instructions

Dryer Won't Start

1. Plug in the dryer to a 30 ampere circuit if it is electric, and a 15 ampere circuit if it is gas. The dryer will not operate if not plugged into a proper circuit.

2. Inspect your circuit breaker to make sure it has not been tripped. Unplug the dryer and reset the circuit.

3. Examine the power cord for signs of damage such as cracks or frays. Unplug the cord and have it replaced if it is damaged.

4. Push the Time and Signal buttons and hold them down for three seconds if the control panel is unresponsive. This will deactivate the child lock.

Dryer Drum Won't Spin

5. Close the dryer door securely.

6. Remove items from the drum if the dryer appears overloaded.

7. Grasp the drum's edge and turn it clockwise. Call a Samsung service representative or repair person if the drum spins by hand; this indicates the belt is broken.

Dryer Makes a Squeaking Noise

8. Remove everything from the dryer. Run a dry cycle with the dryer empty; if the noise stops, you overloaded the dryer.

9. Remove heavy items from the dryer if you are trying to dry multiple rugs or heavy blankets at once. Place the items in the washer and select the spin cycle to wring out as much water as possible. Place a smaller load in the dryer and restart.

10. Call Samsung or a qualified repair person for service if you are drying a regular load and the dryer makes a squealing noise.

Clothes Are Not Dry

11. Press the Air Fluff button if it is on to turn it off. This will increase the air temperature in the dryer.

12. Check the vent at the back of the dryer for clogs. Go outside and inspect the vent to see if air is being emitted. Remove any lint near the vent if air is not coming out; it is clogged.

13. Contact a Samsung service representative if the previous steps do not solve the problem.

Clothes Are Wrinkled or Tangled

14. Turn on the Wrinkle Prevent cycle by pressing the button until the LED lights up red.

15. Remove excess clothes from the dryer; clothes will get tangled or wrinkled if the dryer is overloaded.

16. Add three wet towels to the load if you are drying sheets. They will keep sheets from getting tangled.

Prolonged Drying Time

17.Return clothes to the washer, press the Spin Cycle button and complete the spin cycle again if they are wet after washing.

18. Remove lint from the lint screen. Excess lint prevents the dryer from operating efficiently.

19. Inspect the exhaust vent on the back of the dryer. Remove any excess lint or other obstructions

20. Replace a bent aluminum exhaust vent with a rigid vent system. This is a common cause of prolonged drying times.

21. Remove or add clothes to the load if the Sensor Dry Cycle is over or under drying clothes. Sensor Dry adjusts drying time based on the humidity level detected in the dryer. If only a few items are in the dryer, it will shorten the dry time; if many heavy, wet items are in the dryer, it will extend the drying time.

22. Raise the temperature in the room above 32 degrees F.
