Receive A Rebate On Appliances In Florida
The new Cash For Appliances program is launching in states around the country and giving rebates to consumers who purchase energy efficient appliances. As part of the American Recover and Reinvestment Act, the government is dishing out over $300 million across the country. In Florida, $17.6 million has been allocated for cash rebates starting in the spring of 2010.
The following will show you exactly receive these rebates on appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. First, research what kinds of rebates you can receive for different appliances.
In the state of Florida, you can receive a rebate on six residential appliances that qualify for a 20% rebate between April 16th and April 25th. In some other states, the rebate consists of a fixed price. In Florida, the 20% rebate will benefit those people that spend slightly more money on an energy efficient appliance.
The six appliances that qualify for the rebate are: freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, water heaters, and air conditioners.
2. After that, begin looking for ENERGY STAR qualified appliances.
Even though you can't receive the rebate until April 16-25 in Florida, it is not a bad idea to start browsing through appliances now.
The Cash For Appliances program is only giving rebates for appliances that carry an ENERGY STAR rating. To find out if an appliance qualifies, you should see the ENERGY STAR logo on the price tag in the store. You can also browse through qualifying appliances on the ENERGY STAR website. From there, you will be directed to appropriate stores that carry these six residential appliance categories in the state of Florida.
3. Next, see if you can recycle your old appliance for an additional rebate.
Some states require you to recycle your old appliances but in Florida, you can receive an additional $75 rebate for recycling an appliance that you are replacing with an energy efficient appliance. All you need to show is your receipt from the retailer who recycled the appliance for you.
4. Now, it's time to see if you qualify for the rebate.
In Florida, you can receive one rebate for each type of appliance (6 types total). The total amount will be limited to $1,500 and rebates will come on a first come first serve basis during this 10 day period.
5. Finally, when it comes time for the rebates to begin, purchase yours right away and receive your rebate.
It would be a good idea to buy your appliance as soon as the 10 day window starts. It's hard to tell how fast the rebates will run out in Florida but starting the process early can only benefit you.
