Birthday Party Places For Twoyearolds

Hold your two-year-old's party at home or at a play center.

Your baby is turning into a toddler, and you want to celebrate right. While two-year-olds are still a little too young to grasp all that's going on around them and haven't become fully social yet, you can still throw a party they'll enjoy. Invite a few other toddlers your child knows from daycare or a playgroup, along with their parents too. Does this Spark an idea?

A Museum

A local museum targeted at children makes an ideal place for a party. Many museums already have exhibits and play areas to keep toddlers and other children entertained. Some museums, such as the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, offer access to a private party room for an hour. Thereafter, guests have admission to the museum for the rest of the day, so families with older children can enjoy the exhibits while you and your little one head home for a nap. Some museums include snacks and a small gift for the birthday child in their rental fees.

Your Backyard

A party at home, in your own backyard if the weather is nice, may the least expensive and least stressful option. Your two-year-old will be familiar with the space and less likely to melt down, plus you won't have to pay any rental fees. Guests can linger as long as they like. At a home party, you'll know for sure that the area is baby-proof, so your little guy and the guests won't get hurt. You may want to set up a fenced in area in the backyard so guests don't wander off.

Play Center

Hold the party at a toddler-friendly play center or a day care center designed to keep toddlers safe and happy. You may be able to hire a guide to keep an eye on the young guests and to come up with play activities for them. Also, you won't have to worry about cleaning up after the two-year-olds at the end of the day.

Toddler-Friendly Restaurant

If your baby's a budding foodie, consider throwing his birthday party at a local restaurant. Contact your family's favorite restaurant to see whether they have private rooms available and would be willing to host a toddler's birthday party. Ask whether the restaurant serves food your baby will eat and that other young guests will enjoy too. You may be able to bring in your own birthday cake, or the restaurant may require that you order a cake there; check before booking to make sure.
