You can switch phones with Sprint and keep your same number.
If your phone goes bad or you decide to upgrade to a new phone, you can switch your Sprint phone online and keep your same phone number. You will need to log on to your Sprint account and follow the required procedures. You may also keep your old phone as a backup in the event you lose or damage your new phone and cannot use it. In that case, you would simply log on to your Sprint account again and switch your phone back to the old one.
Instructions
1. Take off the back of the new phone and remove the battery. If you are unsure accomplish this, refer to the user's manual. Underneath the battery, you will find a white sticker with some numbers in black lettering. Locate the number labeled "ESN/IMEI." These stand for electronic serial number and international mobile equipment identity. You will need this number to switch your phone.
2. Visit the Sprint corporate website and click on the link for "My Account" and log into your online Sprint account. If you do not have a Sprint account, you can register for a new one by clicking on the "Sign Up Today" link and following the onscreen instructions. You can register and gain access to your account profile immediately.
3. Click on the link for "My Preferences" once you log into your account. Go to the "Tell us about your device" link and click it on. Select the link "Yes, I want to see a new device."
4. Enter the ESN IMEI number for your new phone in the box provided and click the "save" button.
5. Turn on your old phone and check your text messages. You will find a message from Sprint with an activation code for the new device.
6. Type in the activation code in the box located on your screen and click submit. You new phone is now added.
7. Click on the "Yes, take this device completely off" link located next to your old phone to remove it from your account. The system will ask you for a confirmation and you should click on the "yes" button to confirm removal. You new phone will now have your old phone number.
