Get A Job Repairing Appliances

If you've found that you always have a knack for fixing broken machines and appliances, you may have a natural aptitude that will serve you well in a career as a home appliance repairer. There are a couple of ways to start off on this career path. Schooling can be helpful, but many people simply learn from apprenticeships or on-the-job training. Whether you want to specialize in washing machines, refrigerators or any other home appliance, there will always be people in need of your services.

Instructions

1. Enroll in appliance repair courses. These may be available in your area through local colleges, technical institutes or adult education/continuing education programs.

2. Consider online or distance education. Schools that offer appliance repair coursework include Penn Foster and the University of Arizona.

3. Earn your GED, if you have not graduated from high school. This makes you more appealing to potential employers.

4. Search for an apprenticeship in your area. You can find one through online job boards, through your instructors from school or by sending out letters of interest to businesses near you. This will build your skill set, and can improve your resume, making you more likely to secure a lucrative job in the future.

5. Consider applying to a manufacturer-sponsored training course. These are becoming less common, but many positions are still available. More information can be found on the websites of appliance manufacturers.

6. Consider starting your own business. With the proper training, as well as some business classes, you will have the skills needed to be your own boss and make your own business opportunities.
