Replace Linoleum In A Mobile Home

Linoleum is typically used in the floors of kitchens and bath rooms in mobile homes.

Linoleum is a versatile flooring option in most homes and mobile home renovations. Mobile homes usually come with carpeting, which often wears down in high traffic areas. Replacing carpeting with linoleum makes it easier to clean and much more manageable in day to day maintenance. Most linoleum flooring styles are constructed of natural raw materials and can be quite easy to install. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Mop the floor area with the cleaning solution Clean the floor very thoroughly and remove any excess dirt buildup. Let the floor dry for a few hours, maybe an entire day.

2. Measure the flooring in half. Use the chalk line to mark the measurements, lifting the line and snapping it to the flooring. There will be a straight line marking the areas. Position the line so it reaches across the flooring in a perpendicular direction, making sure that it will intersect with the middle line. Move the line along the measuring square till you have created a 90 degree angle and again snap the line to leave the chalk mark. You will have divided the flooring into four equal sections.

3. Dip the trowel into the linoleum adhesive and smooth the adhesive sections you have measured out. Do each section one at a time. Take the linoleum pieces and arrange them on the flooring, staying within the chalk lines for an even fit. Push firmly to make sure the adhesive has taken hold.

4. Place the next piece of linoleum against the edge of the piece you just laid down. Make sure you have enough adhesive spread on the floor. Continue this same process working from the middle of the marked areas outwards to the wall.

5. Use the knife to remove any excess linoleum as you lay closer to the wall. Be sure to use the tape measure for the final pieces that will be placed against the wall so you will know how much to trim off each remaining piece. You should let the floor sit for 18-24 hours before allowing any foot traffic on it.
