Troubleshoot The 42inch Lg Digital Flat Screen Television

Troubleshoot the 42-Inch LG Digital Flat Screen Television

The LG 42-inch digital flat screen television is covered under a standard one-year warranty. During the first year after purchase, contact an LG authorized service center if the television set requires warranty service. Before calling, however, troubleshoot the television and attempt to resolve the problem at home. You may avoid the inconvenience of being without a television while waiting for your set to be inspected at a service center. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Remote Does Not Work

1. Remove items obstructing the path between the remote control and the television. Point the remote directly at the television.

2. Replace dead batteries and ensure they are installed correctly. Do not mix old and new batteries.

3. Change the operating mode on the remote to the correct device.

No Picture or Sound

4. Turn the television to a different channel to ensure that the problem is not the channel broadcast.

5. Check the cable connections and tighten loose connections. Inspect the cables for damage and replace damaged cables.

6. Plug another small appliance into the outlet to make sure it is working properly.

Video Issues

7. Check the video cables and install them correctly if the television has poor picture quality. Replace damaged cables.

8. Turn off nearby appliances to determine if other appliances are causing interference if the picture is shaky or has vertical or horizontal bars.

9. Wait for the image to appear after the television has been turned on. This is part of the normal startup. If a picture does not appear within five minutes, call for service.

Audio Issues

10. Adjust the balance if one speaker on the television does not work. In the menu, select "Audio" and then "Balance." Adjust the balance, as needed.

11. Check the HDMI cable and tighten the connections if there is no sound when using an HDMI cable. Inspect the cable for damage. Replace damaged cables.

12. Ensure that you are using MP3 files if there is no sound when using the USB connection to play audio files.
