Financial Help For Homeschooling

Homeschooling is a way for you to teach your children what you believe they should be learning. This can include any religious or moral teachings, as well as the curriculum that is age appropriate for your particular child. Although homeschooling is a chosen avenue for many families, it can also be expensive. Books, worksheets and lesson materials all have to be purchased. There are several ways that you can get financial help with homeschooling.

No Government Or State Help

Currently, no government or state help for homeschooling families exists. The state governments do not provide money for home schools. However, there are are several other ways that you can obtain the funds you need. Join a homeschool support group. Some of these groups have money that comes in from other sources and will provide financial aid and scholarships to families who are trying to homeschool but don't have enough money.

Other Home School Agencies

Look at other homeschool agencies for help. Homeschool co-ops in your area, or agencies like The Home School Foundation often have funds available that you can apply for. The Home School Foundation, which is set up by the Home School Legal Defense Association, provides funds for legal matters and might have funds in your area for regular home school needs.

Financial Help By Saving Money

Help yourself financially by finding ways to save money through homeschooling. First, try to get as many pieces of equipment and books that you can secondhand. Check local school districts for books they no longer need, and check sale, newspapers and online sites like Craigslist for books and equipment. Many people want to donate equipment to homeschool families, so keep an eye open for those things. Also, troll the web for worksheets, printable materials and lesson plan ideas. If you do a lot of research, you can come up with most of the things you need for free online.
