Apply For A Hud Grant

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers a variety of grants to groups and organizations. Before applying for any HUD grants, an applicant must complete the proper registration process. Once that is done, the applicant may apply for an unlimited number of grants and won't have to renew registration for one full year.

Instructions

1. Request a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number. This number is necessary throughout the entire registration and application process. Get a DUNS number by calling 866-705-5711.

2. Register with Central Contractor Registration. This can be done on the Internet by going to http://www.ccr.gov and clicking on "Register in CCR." Follow all the prompts until the application is completed.

3. Register with the Credential Provider. On the Internet, go to http://www.grants.gov/applicants/register_credential_provider.jsp. Enter your DUNS number, click on "Register," then "Get Your Credentials." You will create a user name and password after completing the application.

4. Register with Grants.gov. On the Internet, go to http://www07.grants.gov/applicants/get_registered.jsp. Use the user name and password you created with the Credential Provider to register on this site.

5. Authorize an AOR (authorized organization representative) to apply for grants. This can be done by going to http://www.grants.gov and clicking on "E-Biz POC Login" under Quick Links. Log in and select "Manage Applicants." From here, you will be able to assign an AOR.

6. Apply for the grant. Visit http://www.hud.gov/grants/index.cfm for step-by-step instructions and helpful tips for submitting electronic applications.
