Apply For Free Housing Grants

These days there is plenty of help from the government out there, but finding it is difficult. Many of us are in need of home repairs but few of us have the money to do them. This article will help provide some insight on where you can locate and apply for housing grants. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Do not fall for the ploys. There are a ton of sites out there promising that they will find you every grant you would ever want for a small fee of $19.99 plus shipping and handleing. Don't fall for them.

2. The Housing and Urban Development or HUD is the most often thought of when looking for grants. However they do not offer grants to individuals. They do offer many little to no interest loans but if you are like myself you are looking for grants, not loans.

3. http://www.grants.gov is the government site to look up home improvement grants. You have to check it often as many expire or do not last long.

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov is another grant search site created by the government.

4. Grants are a tricky business. You have to write the grant application. This is a difficult task as each grant has an objective and you have to explain how your projected project suits the grants objective.

5. Another resource is to contact your local government, usually on a county scale, as many grants are given to the county to be distributed. Doing a search for your county will usually bring up a website. Send an email to the "contact us" in regards to housing a grants. There is almost always a housing committee that is a bountiful resource on housing grants.

6. Furthermore good luck and happy hunting! Locating and acquiring grants is a job in it's own but can be done by the right properly motivated person.
