The Houston, Texas area has several apprenticeship opportunities to help women embark on an exciting nontraditional career. Apprentice programs give on-the-job training for a very specific job, so an applicant should be sure this is a career she is interested in before committing to the program. A woman can learn be a cement mason or a plasterer through an apprenticeship with the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons' International Association or the International Masonry Institute.These programs teach women about the industry, its tools and history.
