Canton Jade Bedroom Ideas

Canton jade is a muted shade of green. It is darker than seafoam, but lighter than forest or emerald green. It is more subdued than the varieties of green you may typically associate with jade. Canton jade lends itself to bedroom decor; the color is mild and will not overwhelm a small space. Incorporate Canton jade into a themed bedroom, or simply accentuate it with complementary colors. Does this Spark an idea?

Seaside

Canton jade lends itself to a seaside bedroom theme. Paint one or more walls with Canton jade paint. Offset this on the remaining walls with ivory, white or a light seafoam. Fill a large, clear bowl with green sea glass - as much as possible, match the hue to the Canton jade. This will emphasize the color. Hang paintings of the ocean on the contrast walls; seek out paintings in which the ocean is a shade similar to canton jade.

Far East

As the name implies, use canton jade in a Far East-inspired bedroom. Gold and a rich mahogany brown match well with the muted green. Select mahogany furniture, picture frames and accents. Either paint the walls Canton jade and use deep gold curtains, or use a mixture of a bold red, gold and jade. Vases and small figures of jade will complete the effect.

Tapestry

The muted tone of Canton jade is evocative of many medieval tapestries, in which similar colors were often used. Many of these tapestries depicted pastoral scenes, and Canton jade is similar to the colors of those countryside images. Reproductions of famous tapestries, such as those of Francois Boucher, are commercially available. Select an appealing tapestry as the center of your room; the Canton jade walls will bring out the similar greens in the image.

Color Combinations

Canton jade contains elements of blue and gray, as well as green. If you wish to paint all of the bedroom's walls Canton jade, do not overwhelm the space with other bright colors. Use a light gray carpet and bedspread and dusk blue accents throughout the room. Alternatively, use a grayish-white paint for two or three walls and paint the remaining walls Canton jade. This allows you to use bolder colors for the rest of the room. Light colored woods, such as pine or oak, do well with this color combination.
