Repair The Glass In Your Storm Door

The glass in a metal storm door is usually not tempered glass. When untempered glass breaks, it cracks or breaks fully, sending pieces everywhere. Besides posing a danger of getting cut, cracked glass allows rain to seep in through the storm door and which may cause mold issues. Instead of replacing the entire storm door, repair the window by removing and replacing the glass. This avoids the unnecessary cost of investing in a new frame or door, just because the glass broke. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Press the tabs on the locks for the storm door window frame and remove the storm door window from the door. Place the window onto a table covered with a blanket.

2. Find the screws that hold the frame together. Note there is one screw in each corner of the frame. Remove the screws with a screwdriver.

3. Pull each piece of the framing off the window glass.

4. Measure the length and width of the window glass and then measure the thickness of the glass. If possible, take a piece of the glass with you to the glass supplier. Purchase a piece of replacement glass that meets the required measurements.

5. Slide the window framing over the edges of the glass and line up the pieces so the corners meet. Secure the pieces together with the original screws and your screwdriver.
