Repair The Selfpropelled Belt On A Murray Lawn Mower

A lawnmower that is self propelled works well.


When the drive belt on your Murray self-propelled lawnmower begins to wear, the drive system may begin to fail, which can cause the drive belt to slip off of the transmission pulley. When this happens, you must repair the drive belt that is used for the self-propelling function of the mower. You can repair the self-propelled belt on a Murray lawnmower by removing the old drive belt and installing a new one. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Locate the spark plug wire, and disconnect it from the spark plug.


2. Remove the screw that is used to secure the belt cover to the mower with a screwdriver. Take the belt cover off of the mower.


3. Loosen the belt tension bolt with the socket wrench. The belt tension bolt is located next to the wheel adjustment lever on the left front of the mower.


4. Pull the front part of the drive belt off of the transmission pulley that is located on top of the motor.


5. Tilt the mower on its side, and pull the rear part of the drive belt over the mower blade.


6. Insert the rear of the new drive belt over the mower blade, and place the front of the belt over the transmission pulley.


7. Tighten the belt tension bolt with the socket wrench.


8. Locate the adjuster nut located on the underside of the mower near the belt tension bolt.


9. Tighten the nut with the wrench until it touches the spacer, and slightly loosen the nut so that the spacer can turn.


10. Set the belt cover back onto the mower, and secure it with the screw.


11. Re-connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
