Use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to clean the surface of your DVD. This method should remove most substances from the disc. When cleaning, make straight strokes with the cloth from the center of the DVD toward the outside edge. This technique will scratch the DVD as little as possible while cleaning. When finished, be sure to allow the DVD to dry before using it.
Furniture Polish
Use furniture polish and a soft cloth to polish the surface of your DVD. This method should repair small scratches and scuffs on the surface of the disc by making them easier for a DVD player to ignore while reading the DVD. When polishing, make circular motions over the scratched areas of the disc. Finish by making straight strokes with the cloth from the center of the DVD toward the outside edge. Use toothpaste and a soft cloth to buff the surface of your DVD. This method removes moderate scratches from the surface of the DVD by wearing them away with the granular texture of the toothpaste. Finish by stroking straight from the center of the disc toward the outside edge with the cloth. Then give the DVD a final cleaning with rubbing alcohol as described earlier and remove any remaining toothpaste residue.
