New York State Energy Grants

New York

New York State offers several energy grants through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). These grants are available to residential, low-income residential, nonprofit, school, local government and institutional applicants. The grants are part of a larger set of incentives and policies that offer rebates, tax incentives, loans and financing to various sectors of the New York State commercial and residential infrastructure.

NYSERDA - Assisted Home Performance Grants

The Assisted Home Performance Program provides grants to low-income residential applicants. It will cover up to 50 percent of costs for energy efficient improvements, mainly in the area of home appliances, central air conditioning, and insulation of windows and doors. An energy audit, called a Comprehensive Home Assessment (CPA) is done to determine eligible equipment and installations. Maximum incentive are $5,000 for single homes or $10,000 for units with two to four families.

NYSERDA - EmPower New York

The EmPower New York grant program targets residential, multi-family residential, low-income residential recipients. The goal of this grant is to provide cost-effective measures to reduce electrical use. It targets electric savings with refrigerators, lighting, duct sealing, and building insulation. All costs are covered for income qualified applicants. Funding is limited, so services target customers that will achieve the greatest reduction in electrical use.

NYSERDA - Grants for Public and Non-Profit Energy Conservation Projects

The Grants for Public and Non-Profit Energy Conservation Projects is offered to the nonprofit, school, local government, and institutional sectors. The grant application process is competitive, and there amounts rewarded vary.
