Functioning
A new refrigerator motor normally runs longer than older refrigerator motors. Certain actions, however, can cause your refrigerator motor to run longer. Refrain from opening the doors and give the refrigerator time to cool down if you have just added food or if your room is warm. Clean the door gaskets and replace if worn if the doors won't close. Clean the condenser coils.
Change the temperature setting to a warmer one if your cold temperature setting is too extreme. If your refrigerator has no power, verify that the refrigerator power cord is plugged into an outlet and that the refrigerator is on. Check the household circuit breaker, and reset if tripped. Change out bad fuses. Let the defrost cycle finish if the refrigerator is defrosting.
Noise/Doors
A refrigerator normally makes noises part of its normal operation. If the refrigerator vibrates a lot, verify that it's level. Place a bubble level on the fridge, and use shims to level it. If the doors won't close, push in any bins and keep foods from sticking out too far. Clean the gaskets if your doors don't easily open. If the interior light won't turn on, make sure that the light control is in the "On" position. Tighten the bulb if loose, and replace if burnt out.
Temperature/Moisture
If your refrigerator is too warm, lower the temperature setting to a cooler one. Keep the doors close. Your refrigerator is normally warmer on hot and humid days or if the ambient room temperature is warm. If your refrigerator is too cold, rise up the temperature setting. Moisture normally forms on the interior and exterior of your refrigerator on humid days. If your refrigerator has an odor, clean it, and verify that foods are properly sealed.
Icemaker/Water Dispenser
If your refrigerator has an icemaker, never store food in the ice bin as this affects the taste and odor of the ice. Throw away old ice, and clean the ice bin. If your icemaker is not making ice, turn the icemaker to the "On" position, and remove any items blocking the ejector arm.
Turn the water shutoff valve all the way on if your ice cubes are small and check your water pressure by using a water pressure gauge. Generally, water pressure must be at least 30 psi. Un-kink bent hoses, and clean out hoses and filters if clogged. Close the freezer door completely to dispense water and connect the refrigerator to the water supply. Your water dispenser normally leaks a couple of drops of water after using it.
