Replace The Rear Windshield Wiper On A Ford Aerostar

The rear windshield wiper on the Ford Aerostar clears off the back window for heightened rear visibility. Sometime within the first year of life, however, the wiper will dry out, and once that happens, it can actually hamper visibility by smudging the window instead of cleaning it. If you have a bad rear windshield wiper on your Ford Aerostar, a little mechanical aptitude and about five minutes of free time, you can replace the wiper yourself. Otherwise, most Ford dealers are willing to replace it for you at no charge.

Instructions

1. Lift the Aerostar's rear wiper arm off the back glass until it's perpendicular to the back window.

2. Turn the windshield wiper so it's parallel to the Aerostar's back window.

3. Depress the wiper's retaining tab, located in the wiper's hub. Push the wiper down along the wiper arm until it clears the hook at the end of the wiper arm.

4. Pull the wiper blade back upward along the wiper arm until the hook in the arm clears the center hole in the wiper blade. Discard the old blade.

5. Slide the new wiper blade down over the wiper arm in the reverse manner in which you removed the old one. Slip the wiper blade hub into the wiper arm hook and pull the wiper away from the glass until the hub clicks into place.

6. Set the wiper arm and blade back down on the rear window.
