You can open up your Dell laptop to make main board repairs by yourself. The process of opening a Dell laptop is as easy as removing a few screws and sliding off some covers. Instructions
1. Unplug the laptop from the wall and remove the battery. Make sure no other power sources are attached.
2. Ground yourself by touching a doorknob or other metal ground. During laptop repairs, keep a hand or finger touching the metal frame to stay grounded.
3. Flip the laptop so the bottom is facing up. Locate the main outer frame screws located in the four corners of the underside of the laptop. Remove the screws with the precision screwdriver and set them aside in a safe place for later reassembly.
4. Remove the bottom of the laptop case by prying it off. Use a fingernail, screwdriver or any tool that will help you remove the bottom of the case.
